Please avoid including personal or sensitive information in photographs unless it is necessary for us to investigate the problem. Where reasonably possible, obscure unrelated information before sending an image.

Marketing preferences

We may record whether you have agreed to receive marketing and whether you have unsubscribed or objected.

3. How we obtain information

We collect information:

  • Directly from you when you place an order, contact us or provide personalisation content;

  • Automatically when you use the website;

  • From Shopify and payment providers;

  • From production, fulfilment and delivery service providers;

  • From fraud-prevention, security and identity-verification providers;

  • From marketing, analytics or advertising services where these are enabled and legally permitted; and

  • From publicly available sources where appropriate.

4. How and why we use your information

We use personal information only where we have an appropriate legal basis.

To perform our contract with you

We use information to:

  • Accept and process orders;

  • Produce and personalise products;

  • Take or confirm payment;

  • Arrange fulfilment and delivery;

  • Provide order and tracking updates;

  • Respond to questions about an order;

  • Process cancellations, complaints, refunds and replacements; and

  • Enforce our contractual terms.

Without the information required at checkout, we may be unable to accept or fulfil your order.

To comply with legal obligations

We may process information to:

  • Maintain business, accounting and tax records;

  • Comply with consumer-protection and product-safety obligations;

  • Respond to lawful requests from courts, regulators or public authorities;

  • Prevent or report unlawful activity; and

  • Exercise or comply with other legal rights and duties.

For our legitimate interests

Where those interests are not overridden by your rights, we may use information to:

  • Operate and improve the website and customer experience;

  • Provide customer support;

  • Protect the website, customers and business against fraud, abuse and security threats;

  • Investigate delivery, product and payment problems;

  • Maintain appropriate records;

  • Establish, exercise or defend legal claims;

  • Understand the general performance of the store; and

  • Manage relationships with service providers.

When relying on legitimate interests, we consider the nature of the information, the purpose for which it is used and the potential effect on you.

With your consent

Where consent is required, we may use it for:

  • Non-essential cookies or similar technologies;

  • Email or electronic marketing; and

  • Certain analytics, personalisation or advertising activities.

You may withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect processing that lawfully occurred before consent was withdrawn.

5. Shopify

Our online store is hosted by Shopify. Shopify provides the ecommerce platform used to display products, process orders, support checkout and operate the store.

Shopify generally processes customer information on our behalf to provide these services. In some circumstances, Shopify may process information for its own purposes under its own privacy terms.

If Shopify Network Intelligence, Enhanced Services or related advertising and personalisation features are enabled for this store, Shopify may combine information about your interactions with this store with information from interactions with other participating merchants. This may be used to provide services such as analytics, fraud prevention, personalised shopping or advertising.

Where applicable, you can manage relevant choices through our cookie banner, privacy-preference or data-sharing opt-out page. You may also learn more about Shopify’s privacy practices and available controls at:

https://privacy.shopify.com

6. Who we share information with

We may share information where necessary with:

  • Shopify and associated ecommerce service providers;

  • Payment processors, banks and fraud-prevention providers;

  • Production and fulfilment service providers;

  • Delivery companies, postal services and customs authorities;

  • Website-hosting, cloud-storage, email, security and customer-support providers;

  • Analytics, marketing and advertising providers, where enabled and legally permitted;

  • Accountants, professional advisers, insurers and legal representatives;

  • Courts, regulators, law-enforcement agencies and public authorities where legally required; and

  • A prospective buyer or successor if the business or its assets are sold, reorganised or transferred.

These recipients receive only the information reasonably required for their functions.

We do not sell personal information in exchange for money. However, some analytics or advertising disclosures may be legally treated as a “sale”, “sharing” or targeted advertising in certain jurisdictions. Where those laws apply, we will provide the required opt-out mechanism.

7. Product-problem evidence

Photographs and other evidence submitted about a faulty, damaged, misprinted, incomplete or incorrect product may be shared with relevant production, fulfilment and delivery providers.

This is necessary to verify the problem, investigate its cause and arrange a replacement, refund or other appropriate remedy.

Do not send an item directly to a production or fulfilment provider unless we have expressly instructed you to do so.

8. Personalisation content

Personalisation content is used to create the product you requested, check the order, provide customer support and resolve production or delivery problems.

If you provide a photograph, name, artwork or other information relating to another person, you confirm that you have permission or another lawful basis to provide and use that content for the order.

Please do not submit sensitive personal information unless it is genuinely necessary for the requested design and you are legally permitted to provide it.

9. Marketing communications

We may send marketing communications where:

  • You have given consent; or

  • The law permits us to contact an existing customer about similar products and we provided an opportunity to opt out.

You can unsubscribe using the link included in a marketing message or by contacting enquiries@nosmallprint.co.uk.

Service communications about an order, delivery, refund, security matter or policy change are not marketing and may still be sent where necessary.

10. Cookies and similar technologies

The website uses cookies and similar technologies to:

  • Operate the store and checkout;

  • Remember preferences;

  • Maintain security and prevent fraud;

  • Understand website performance;

  • Measure marketing effectiveness; and

  • Provide personalised content or advertising where enabled.

Where consent is legally required, non-essential technologies will not be used until you make a choice through the cookie banner or privacy controls.

You can change your preferences through the privacy controls available on the website. Browser settings may also allow you to block or delete cookies, although doing so can prevent parts of the store from working correctly.

11. International transfers

We sell products internationally and use service providers that may process information outside the United Kingdom.

Where personal information is transferred to a country that is not recognised as providing an adequate level of protection, we will use an appropriate legal safeguard where required. This may include approved contractual clauses, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, the UK Addendum or another legally recognised mechanism.

You may contact us for further information about the safeguards relevant to your information.

12. How long we keep information

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected and to meet legal, tax, accounting, fraud-prevention and dispute-resolution requirements.

In general:

  • Order, transaction and accounting records may normally be retained for up to six years after the relevant transaction or accounting period;

  • Customer-service, complaint and returns records may be retained while the matter is active and afterwards where reasonably necessary to handle disputes or legal claims;

  • Personalisation files are retained only for as long as required to produce the order, provide support and meet applicable legal or dispute-resolution requirements;

  • Marketing information is retained until you unsubscribe or object, although a minimal suppression record may be retained to ensure that your preference is respected; and

  • Technical, analytics and cookie information is retained according to the purpose and settings of the relevant technology.

Information may be retained for longer where required by law, a regulator, court proceedings or an active legal dispute.

13. Security

We use reasonable organisational and technical measures intended to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss, alteration, disclosure or misuse.

No online system is completely secure. You are responsible for protecting any account password and for contacting us promptly if you believe an account or transaction has been compromised.

14. Your data-protection rights

Depending on where you live and subject to applicable exceptions, you may have the right to:

  • Ask for access to your personal information;

  • Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information;

  • Ask us to delete information;

  • Ask us to restrict how information is used;

  • Object to processing based on legitimate interests;

  • Object to direct marketing;

  • Receive certain information in a portable format;

  • Withdraw consent;

  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, targeted advertising or certain profiling where applicable;

  • Ask us to limit the use of sensitive personal information where applicable; and

  • Complain to a data-protection authority.

These rights are not absolute. For example, we may need to retain information to fulfil an order, comply with tax obligations or defend a legal claim.

To exercise a right, email enquiries@nosmallprint.co.uk. We may need to verify your identity before acting on the request.

Under UK data-protection law, we normally respond within one month, although the period may be extended where legally permitted for a complex request.

You will not be discriminated against for exercising an applicable privacy right.

15. Automated checks

Payment, fraud-prevention or security providers may use automated systems to assess transactions and identify suspicious activity. This may result in a payment being declined, delayed or referred for further review.

No Small Print does not intend to make decisions based solely on automated processing that produce legal or similarly significant effects, except where permitted by law and appropriate safeguards are provided.

Contact us if you believe an order has been affected by an automated decision and would like further information or human review.

16. Children’s information

The website is intended for general audiences and is not directed specifically at children.

Orders should be placed by someone legally able to enter into the purchase contract or with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian. Please do not submit a child’s personal information or photograph for personalisation unless you have the authority and permission to do so.

17. Complaints

Please contact us first if you have concerns about how your information has been handled.

You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office:

Information Commissioner’s Office
Wycliffe House
Water Lane
Wilmslow
Cheshire
SK9 5AF
United Kingdom

Telephone: 0303 123 1113
Website: https://ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint

If you live outside the United Kingdom, you may also have the right to complain to the privacy or data-protection authority responsible for your location.

18. Customers outside the United Kingdom

This policy is intended to provide a general privacy framework for customers worldwide.

Nothing in this policy limits a privacy right that cannot lawfully be excluded in your country or region. Additional rights, disclosures or choices will apply where required by local law.

19. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our practices, service providers, Shopify settings or legal obligations change.

The latest version will be published on this page with a revised “Last updated” date. Where appropriate, we may provide additional notice of a material change.
